Ever since the Raiders picked up and moved to Las Vegas, their value has skyrocketed. Now some big names want in including Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson, according to a report from Semafor.
He's supposedly the head of a team of investors that are vying for a piece of the pie, who are majority owned by Mark Davis and family. According to sources, they are in the "due diligence" stage of the deal and making sure the group are legit before anything goes forward.
Why might the Raiders be interested?
Selling off a piece of your prized possession might not sound like a great idea. But for Mark Davis, selling a portion of the team could make his share worth more than ever.
Ever since moving to Las Vegas, the Raiders value has been headed north. Back in 2015 when the Raiders and Las Vegas were flirting, the team was worth $1.4 Billion. That's nothing to scoff at, but it was second to last in the league. Since moving, it's been headed upwards and today is worth $4.1 Billion according to Sportico.
Why this deal might be more attractive to the team? It values the team not at $4.1 Billion but at an astounding $6.5 Billion! That means the group of potential investors sees a lot of growth potential in the value of the franchise and are willing to pay a bit of that potential up front. It would be the largest valuation for any sports franchise ever.
Magic Johnson is no stranger to team ownership. The basketball icon also owns a minority stake in the Los Angeles Dodgers, the whole of the WNBA franchise Los Angeles Sparks and several other companies. He's a pretty sharp businessman!
We'll sit back and see how it plays out, but if the deal goes through Mark Davis is going to be a happy man. Maybe he'll even pay off the remaining balance on the stadium. We'll wait for you to stop laughing.

According to the UK’s The Sun, researchers at the cosmetic surgical group Longevita found that the 38-year-old Duke of Cambridge’s name and the keyword “sexy” came up in Google searches and articles 17.6 million times, beating out Mike Tyson who came in second place with 8.8 million searches. Jason Statham came third with 7.4 million, 5.4 million for Pitbull, and a close 5.3 million for Michael Jordan, who completed the list’s top five bald men. Other honorable mentions included Floyd Mayweather, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Dwyane Johnson, and Vin Diesel — in that order.
This year, a study by SEO agency Reboot rated bald celebrities by their "cranial shine factor" (how shiny their heads are). The findings ranked Vin Diesel as the sexiest bald man with an overall score of 6.46 out of 10. In terms of height, the Fast & Furious star is taller than the male average at 5 ft 9 in, while he had a beaming cranial shine fact of 563.65 candelas per square meter. This equates to his head reflecting light with 70.46 percent of the luminous intensity of a standard light bulb.
