Most Popular Tourist Traps In Las Vegas
Tourist traps in Las Vegas are unlike any other.
Las Vegas is a unique city because despite all of the lucrative and explicit activities that are available; the city still needs to offer events and things to do that are appealing to the whole, entire family.
And thus, the infamous Vegas tourist trap was born due to this necessity. If you're a Vegas local, or an out-of-towner who frequents the city, then you know about the hilariously over-the-top attractions that pull locals and tourists of all kinds.
These tourist traps are never permanent fixtures -- like most Vegas attractions -- but they often operate long enough to become engrained memories in the minds of many.
For all of our locals, do you remember Freight Dome? Or maybe you had a birthday party or two at Wet‘n’Wild Las Vegas on The Strip?
Since Vegas relies on volume and a constant flow of people, it's no secret that our city needs to constantly innovate and keep the world's attention. So things move, change and reinvent themselves all of the time.
We created a list of some of the most popular tourist attractions in Las Vegas. Now, this doesn't mean that these attractions are the best or worst in the city. We chose these attractions based on the volume of people who go to these places, the overall audience interaction these attractions receive -- such as reviews, social media posts, etc. -- and the overall reputation of these attractions.
There's something quite charming about these tacky, cute and cheesy tourist activities. But, these tourist traps leave everlasting memories that have us thinking back to "that one time in Vegas." If you're someone who plans to visit the city, we recommend penciling one of these activities on your itinerary at least ONCE.
From stacked rocks in the desert to being flung 1,149 feet up in the sky, here are some of the biggest, coolest, and even tackiest tourist traps in the entertainment capital of the world: Las Vegas.
Seven Magic Moutains
Nothing screams "tourist trap" louder than driving 40 minutes outside of The Strip, parking on the side of the road and staring at tall rocks in the middle of the desert.
Seven Magic Mountains overtook the Vegas tourist scene by storm when Instagram photos started erupting from the scenic spot. People posted pictures of themselves posing in front of these brightly painted boulders in the desert. Seven Magic Mountains is an art installation by Ugo Rondinone. Accodring to the artist's website, "The location is physically and symbolically mid-way between the natural and the artificial: the natural is expressed by the mountain ranges, desert, and Jean Dry Lake backdrop, and the artificial is expressed by the highway and the constant flow of traffic between Los Angeles and Las Vegas."
The meaning behind this art installation is beautiful. However, it doesn't take away that it's a pretty colorful tourist trap. Everyone should visit Seven Magic Mountains at least once or twice. But just remember that this is an art installation of tall, brightly colored, stacked rocks. However, this activity is FREE! So, you can't really complain. Just go, see it for yourself and enjoy the beautiful art!
The Adventuredome at Circus Circus Las Vegas
Now, we're certainly not Circus Circus haters by any means. In fact, there's something so delightful about this hotel that we can't help but love it. The Adventure Dome at Circus Circus is the epitome of a pure tourist trap. And many of us have had amazing memories at this mini amusement park. Along with this local tie, many tourist -- who come in family packs -- can use the Adventure Dome as a time to distract the kids!
Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens
The Conservatory at the Bellagio Las Vegas is a breathtaking installation of lush flora and fauna, wrapping around the hotel's designated space for this attraction. Each season, the talented Horticulture and Engineering teams transform "the 14,000-square-foot Botanical Gardens into a showcase of inspiring sights, sounds, scents and colors. Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter," the hotel's website says.
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas
Now, this isn't a tourist attraction that is unique only to Las Vegas. In fact, Madame Tussauds attracts audiences in other major cities across the globe. This attraction is fun. However, upon walking within the "museum," you slowly start to realize that you're quite literally looking at wax figures. The pictures are fun and the initial experience is exciting. But after 20 minutes, the attraction becomes humorous. And the bar located within the museum is truly a saving grace.
The Rides On The STRAT Las Vegas
This is for all of the thrill seekers. The Start is about 1,149-feet tall with a few adrenaline-pumping rides that are perfect for those who love adventure and amusement rides. The SkPod and Observation Deck are great attractions to attend. But the rides are an elevated way to experience a view of the Las Vegas Strip. The Big Shot shoots you 60-feet in the air at 45-miles-per-hour in a matter of seconds. Insanity dangles you from the side of a building at more than 900 feet high and the X-Scream teeter-totters you over the edge of the SkyPod.
Another Vegas Tourist Mistake: Misunderstanding Vegas' Resort Fees
Many people book hotels in Vegas, confirm their booking's original price online and go on their trip. Upon checking out, many people are hit with a differently priced bill at the end of their stay. These resort fees are due at the end of a visit and allow you to "access the hotel's amenities." Be sure to research your hotel's resort fee. Above is a list of the resort fees across the different Las Vegas hotels and casinos.

Life Is Beautiful 2022 In Las Vegas: Things You Should Know
Life Is Beautiful is this weekend!
The streets of downtown Las Vegas will transform into colorful, musical-filled rows of pure bliss and happiness throughout Sept. 16-18.
Major acts include T-Pain, Cage The Elephant, Arctic Monkeys, Gorillaz, Kygo, Calvin Harris, Lorde and more! Check out the festival's lineup below.
This festival is pure Las Vegas, and showcases why our community is one of the strongest, most diverse and creative. We're the entertainment capital of the world. But this festival is arguably unique when it comes to the plethora of events that swing through our city. The festival "contributes to the beautification of Downtown Las Vegas, turning its streets into an open art museum featuring some of the greatest and most prominent local, national and global artists," the organizers' state in a press release.
This weekend is a three-day event of discovery and musical enjoyment. From immersive art installments, unparalleled food experiences, and local vendors; this festival is a full embodiment of the creative cauldron that Las Vegas is.
Some festival highlight:
“This year's schedule is a fun one and offers fans the chance to see all their favorites on the lineup while also discovering some of today's emerging artists,” said Craig Asher Nyman, Head of Music & programming at Life is Beautiful in the festival's press release. “Between the four stages and all the ancillary musical programming, fans are going to have three action packed days of music and entertainment.”
Experience the festival by downloading the Life is Beautiful app! This feature will make your festival-going experience efficient and just more organized, which is something we highly recommend
However, we know as Vegas locals, there are a few necessities when it comes to attending a festival in our city. Scroll down for things you MUST know about this year's festival.
Parking
Sadly, the arts and music festival does not provide any form of parking. There is no free parking at or near the festival. The festival does offer “Park & Ride” passes for purchase. Click below for an article about places to park for this weekend.
Bag Policy
Small bags, purses, and totes are are 6"x 8' x 3' do not have to be clear.
Backpacks and bags larger than 6" x 8" x 3" must be made of CLEAR plastic, CLEAR vinyl or CLEAR PVC are permitted. They must be clear, essentially. And hydration packs are permitted but they must be EMPTIED of all liquid and must have a gear capacity of no more than 2.5 liters (150 cubic inches). Standard sized backpacks with hydration bladders will not be permitted.
Re-entry Policy
According to the festival, general admission guests are permitted three exits and three reentries per day.
VIP, VIP+ and all-in guests are allowed unlimited entry and re-entry.
Bring Sunblock!

September heat is still no joke. The UV index is still pretty high in the dessert despite the fall weather creeping up. Be sure to bring sun protection and drink plenty of water. If you're an out-of-towner coming to the festival for the weekend then be sure to take breaks throughout the shows. It's easy to feel perfectly fine one minute and then be unsuspectedly hit with a dehydration headache due to the covert nature of dry heat. So stay hydrated!
Peak Entry Times
The peak entry times for the festival are between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Avoiding entering the festival during these times will also help you avoid long lines!
Bring A Refillable Water Bottle!
Let us iterate this again, bring a refillable water bottle to avoid dehydration! Standing for hours, listening to loud music in a crowd of people and walking to different stages can work up a sweat!

© MILHRANDT YULIIA, 2018 via Getty Images
You Must Activate Your Wristbands
You must register your wristbands on the Life Is Beautiful app to access festival entry, updates, activations and more.
Service Can Get Dodgy
Since so many people will be crammed throughout downtown, service can get pretty poor due to the influx of people clogging network bandwidth. With this being said, always have a plan with your group. Have a certain meetup times and meetup spots, so no one gets completely lost or separated.

You Can Watch The Festival's Stream!
If you're not attending the festival, you can join virtually! The festival will be livestreaming the event throughout the weekend!
Enjoy The Culinary Experiences
Along with music and art, the culinary options are amazing at LIB, and you definitely need to try the plethora of them.
Top 5 Holiday Travel Pet Peeves – Don’t Be One Of These Travelers!
Anyone who has ever flown during the holidays knows that it can be a special kind of hell.
If you're reading this, chances are you're about to embark on a holiday travel adventure. And if you're anything like me, that means hours spent in airports and even more time cramped in an airplane seat. From dealing with packed airports to spending hours crammed into a tiny seat, holiday travel is not for the faint of heart. And while I can't promise that flying during the holidays will ever be fun, I can at least offer a little bit of advice for what NOT to do on your voyage this year.
Thanks to The Daily Record, we now have a list of the 5 biggest holiday travel annoyances. The Daily Record asked their readers to list their top travel pet peeves, and their readers certainly hit the nail on the head. These were not one-time travelers. Nay, nay. These people have seen some stuff. Experienced some junk. These people knew what they were talking about.
Ugh. Don't get me wrong, I love to travel. I even love flying... so long as the conditions are bearable. Traveling amongst inconsiderate folk... I could live without. It can create a travel experience that is uncomfortable, stressful, and just downright annoying. Please. I beg of thee. Be aware of your surroundings and those you're sharing a space with. Traveling is tough. Don't make the experience even more challenging for everyone.
So whether you're already in the thick of holiday travel for Thanksgiving this week, or just starting to get mentally prepared for your travels over the next couple of months, read on for a little bit of comic relief (and, more importantly, a little bit of wisdom). Don't be one of these travelers. Please.
The Top 5 Holiday Travel Pet Peeves:
5) "Passengers, Who Get Up Before The Seatbelt Signs Are Off"
pedrojperez via Getty ImagesThis. I mentally cannot handle this. And I can't figure it out. Do these people just not pay enough attention to know they aren't supposed to be unbuckled, or do they just think they're the single exception to the rules? Like... Excuse me? Where do you think you're going? We're on an aircraft... And you're in a rush to go WHERE?! Sit down. GAH.
4) "Armrest Hogs"
Ivan-balvan via Getty ImagesWhen I ride as a passenger on planes, I make a conscious effort to give those seated on my side(s) the majority of the armrest. Because how awful is it to not be able to rest your arms for the entire duration of a flight? Pretty miserable. But others are not that mindful. And it's annoying. And I really can't stand it.
3) "Those Who Talk Too Loudly On Smartphones"
dima_sidelnikov via Getty ImagesI just have one question... WHO ARE YOU YELLING AT? They can hear you. And so can everyone at the gate/on the plane. Please. Be respectful of everyone you're sharing the space with. We don't want to hear your conversation.
2) "Adults, Who Inconsiderately Recline Their Seats"
Digital Vision. via Getty ImagesI'm not sure what exactly is MOST annoying about this one - the fact that you can't move a muscle when the person in front of you does this, or the fact that they are that unaware and inconsiderate of the possibility of a passenger behind them. Please don't be this traveler just so you can lay back 180 degrees and snooze the flight away. By all means, recline your chair slightly. But please don't ruin another traveler's experience. We're all in this travel game together this holiday season.
1) "Kids, Who Kick Seats"
Nadezhda1906 via Getty ImagesHaving your back kicked repeatedly on a four hour flight? Yeah... Nothing will make you consider searching for a parachute on that plane faster than repetitive kicks to the lumbar. So miserable, and lowkey PAINFUL! To all travelers - please keep your feet off of the back of the seats!
