The dream vacation looks different for everyone as warm and cold weather play a factor in travel destinations.
Our friends at AquaExpeditions.com conducted a survey asking 2,200 Americans from each state what their ideal dream vacations is regardless of cost. The results are shocking!
The survey ran for roughly a two week period in November of 2022 with questions on location, budget, transportation and more. The following states, Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming, were not included in the survey as the researchers didn't receive enough samples.
Americans want to have a great time on their vacations and 81% said that they take their trips for fun. Here are four really important aspects Americans are looking for when booking their dream vacation were:
- Beautiful Views - 28%
- Ample Places To Relax / Unwind - 22%
- Exciting Activities - 18%
- Great Restaurant Options - 18%
Nevada and our sister state Hawaii are the only two states who prefer to take a vacation in the city. If you were thinking we wanted beaches, we're sorry, you are wrong. 37 other states prefer the ocean trips as Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, North Carolina and Texas would prefer a mountain recess.
Nevadans dream lodging would be in a hotel. Data showed that Nevadans want to travel somewhere warm during summer months and we can't blame them when Vegas is 115 on a cool day.
When it comes to traveling to their dream destinations, 29 states said they would prefer to drive where 15 states said they would fly commercially. Nevadans would prefer to fly and their travel stop would not be to another state but rather internationally.
Beautiful views came up as the most important element when Nevadans are booking a vacation. Each state chose to rate how badly they need a vacation out of 10. Nevada is the 31st state in most need of a vacation with a "need rating" 7.70 out of 10. The state most in need of a vacation was South Carolina with an 8.64 out of 10.
The cost of vacations aren't necessarily cheap and for good reason. Each state was to estimate what their dream vacation would cost and the numbers vary. Nevada ranked the 17 most highest state at $6,314. The highest estimated dream vacation fell onto Massachusetts with a whopping $8,284.

This top predator existed roughly 3+ million years ago and is not one to overlook. It's mouth can open 2.5 to 3.5 meters wide and would consume large fish like whales.
The exhibit also showcases children-friendly activations. Bring your kids to see the dinosaur shows and raptor training experiences. Dino bounce houses and bungee pulls will be on sight.
