Puppies are absolutely adorable, but unfortunately the business behind them can be pretty terrible. That's why a Las Vegas puppy sales sting targeting unlicensed sellers just went down to try to put an end to the ugly side of finding man's best friend.

Operation Pawsitive Change linked together the efforts of the City Of Las Vegas, Animal Protection Services, the Department of Public Safety and the city attorney's office to help get a handle on the growing problem.

In a post on X, the city boasted about their findings. In total, four puppies were rescued from unlicensed sellers, 29 citations were handed out to illegal breeders and sellers, four guns were seized, and at the end of the mission they saw a drastic decline in the amount of puppy ads from illegal sellers.

Why Las Vegas Puppy Sales Sting Makes A Difference

You might be thinking "why did this Las Vegas puppy sales sting happen? If people want to buy them, let them!" But the reality behind illegal breeders is pretty bleak.

Animals are often used and abused, with mothers spitting out dogs until they are no longer of use to the illegal breeder. This has resulted in the mother dogs being abandoned and discarded. It is an act that is obviously disgusting, but all too common. Organizations like The Animal Foundation have seen it time and again and the story is getting old.

These so-called backyard breeders work purely on profit and often do not care for the wellbeing of the animals. The City of Las Vegas and several other entities are stressing for the spaying and neutering of animals and adopting and not shopping when it is time for you to get a new four legged friend. There are too many animals out there already looking for a loving home.
