Insomniac has announced the lineup for the 30th anniversary of Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) Las Vegas with top electronic artists like Kaskade, Tiësto, and Peggy Gou. The festival is set for May 15-17 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The event celebrates three decades of music, art, and community, attracting over 500,000 fans. The cosmicMEADOW stage will feature a night curated by HARD, with acts like Interplanetary Criminal, The Prodigy, and Hannah Laing.

EDC first appeared in 1991 as Magical Mickey’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Chino, California, drawing 3,500 people. It was organized by Stephen Hauptfuhr with rides and the underground rave atmosphere.

EDC moved to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2011, hosting 230,000 attendees. Despite high winds forcing an early closure on the second night, the move from Los Angeles signified significant growth.

By 2014, EDC Las Vegas sold out with 345,000 tickets, with 134,000 attending daily. The event continued to grow, welcoming 525,000 people over three days in 2024.

Festival-goers can look forward to eight stages, including Kinetic Field, able to hold 70,000. Besides music, art cars and camping, available since 2018, enhance the experience. Fireworks illuminate the night sky, providing an energetic atmosphere.

The early days of EDC were marked by secretive underground raves. The festival evolved into an international event, fueled by the EDM explosion of the 2010s. Stephen Hauptfuhr reminisced, "Everyone coming together was amazing... It was this weird world that didn’t exist before," said Hauptfuhr to Las Vegas (KSNV).

Meanwhile, Southern Nevada is gearing up for a major winter storm with rain, snow, and winds. Current temperatures are in the low 50s, with slight increases expected over the week.

As Insomniac gets ready for EDC's 30th anniversary, anticipating half a million visitors, Stephen Hauptfuhr reflects on the beginning, "When Steve threw the first one, it was groundbreaking... It blew everyone’s minds," said Jeanie Chang.
