Elf on a Shelf is one of our all-time favorite traditions. Our Elf, Elf Thomas, came to us when Jayden was 4 years old. We have had so much fun with him. He has decorated Jayden's bedroom when we were out of town. He has decorated our Christmas tree with his underwear, he has brought endless little trinkets, toys, and movies, and has absolutely caused some trouble.
The premise of Elf On A Shelf is so beautiful - each night, your elf flies to the North Pole to tell Santa Claus whether your children have been naughty or nice. It's a cute way to keep the spirit of Santa alive and my favorite part...encourage good behavior in your children in anticipation of Christmas and fingers crossed all year long. Because after all, Santa only comes to the kids who are nice and those who believe.
But if you have ever had an Elf on the Shelf join your family you know that you can lose sleep thinking about him and what he is doing day after day and if you are crazy like me he comes on Thanksgiving which is a lot of days as to where he can get into a lot of things at your house.
Is it the cleanup or the creativity that you find more stressful? Maybe all of the above!
Remember that your kids are probably not going to remember the gifts you get them or if your house is clean. They will remember the memories you make for them. The traditions you instill in them and the magic they feel. That is the point of your Elf. So make it easy on you and enjoy these next magical 9 days!
