It's here! The beginning of fall. That means the spooky season is here time to decorate your house with everything scary.

Some questions to ask before starting to decorate for Halloween:

  • When should you carve your pumpkins?
  • Are you decorating inside and outside?
  • When do you start decorating for Halloween?
  • Are you shooting for scary or cute?
  • What do you already have and what do you need to purchase?

If you are in a cooler climate you can start to decorate for Halloween as soon as October 1st. But if you are in a warmer climate you can start when you don't get heat stroke while decorating. Decorate for Halloween in Las Vegas at your own risk.

If you are carving pumpkins in a warm climate wait until it gets closer to Halloween to carve because they will rot quickly in the heat. In the meantime, think about getting faux pumpkins or you can paint them instead of carving them. Painting them is always a fun family activity that doesn't involve pumpkin guts.

When buying Halloween decor try to get some things that you can use both for Halloween and fall so you get more use out of it.

Before you decide if you are going to decorate scary or cute for Halloween check out the list below of the most popular Halloween decorations according to the state that you live in.

Nevada's favorite Halloween decor is a skeleton while New York's is a bat. I want to be in the pumpkin state like Connecticut. If there is anything I hoard at my house, it's pumpkins for fall and Halloween.

Happy Fall and happy decorating!
