All right y’all. This is serious. I’ve got to be totally real with you right now.

I absolutely LOVE roller coasters.

Now I know what you're thinking. “Okay Sammi, I like roller coasters too. What’s the big deal?” I do not simply like roller coasters. I am passionate about them. DEEPLY passionate. I guess I could call myself a bit of an adrenaline junkie, and a nice 300 foot drop is just what I need all the time. I am always in search of bigger drops and higher speeds.

The first time I rode a real, "big kid" roller coaster, I was only 6 years old. I remember visiting one of my family's favorite theme parks, and the minute I saw that I had finally grown tall enough and reached the height requirement, I full on sprinted into the line and never looked back. I absolutely loved everything about it, from the feeling of my stomach dropping on the first big dip to the quick twists and turns. From that moment on, I was hooked. Since moving to Las Vegas, I've ridden The Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York Hotel and Casino every chance I've gotten.

You can only imagine my excitement when I learned that there is a holiday to celebrate those beautiful steel beasts (or wood, if you prefer a rougher ride). A day set aside to celebrate one of my favorite things! Sadly, I could not visit an amusement park to engage in any festivities in honor of "National Roller Coaster Day." However, I can do the next best thing, which is tell you all of my favorite roller coasters that every thrill seeker should experience!

Without further ado, here are my top nine favorite roller coasters:

9) Maverick - Cedar Point

While this coaster isn’t the tallest or fastest, it definitely deserves a place on this list. This ride not only sends passengers down a striking 95 degree drop, but halfway through launches them again at a speed of 75 mph.

8) Kingda Ka - Six Flags Great Adventure

The pleasure of riding this coaster is nearly unbeatable. As the tallest roller coaster in the world, this one should most definitely be on your list.

7) Fury 325 - Carowinds

The massive 325-foot drop of this coaster makes it a must for roller coaster lovers.

6) The Big Apple Coaster - New York-New York Hotel and Casino

If you’ve had the opportunity to ride this coaster, you know how exciting it is to speed your way through the Las Vegas skyline. If you haven’t ever had the chance to ride it, you have to get there ASAP!

5) Flight of Fear - Kings Island

I think my favorite part about coasters is going as fast as possible, and the launched-start of this indoor coaster makes this one incredible. Pair that with the tight turns and loops and the ride being nearly pitch-black throughout, and you’ve got yourself a fun ride.

4) Steel Vengeance - Cedar Point

The steel track on this wood coaster makes it strikingly smooth, and the sheer speed is unlike any other you've felt on a wooden coaster. The quick twists and turns make it feel like you’re doing flips, which makes it one of my favorites!

3) The Beast - Kings Island

Built in 1979, this coaster is a true classic. Not only does it boast 7,400 feet of track to make it the longest wooden coaster on Earth, but it even has two different lift hills!

2) The Big Dipper - Camden Park

The Big Dipper is the centerpiece of Camden Park, the only amusement park in my home state of West Virginia. If you want the thrill of a lifetime, consider hoping on one of the oldest roller coasters still standing. This wooden beauty opened in 1958, and I've ridden it more times than I can count. Visiting this historic theme park is a once in a lifetime experience, but I would like the record to show that I am not responsible for your safety if you do so.

1) Incredicoaster - Disneyland California Adventure

While this one isn’t first for pure adrenaline seekers, the overall experience provided with this ride makes it not only exciting but an entertaining experience the whole way through!

17 Home Remedies That (May Or May Not) Work

Walk down the aisle of your local drug store, or watch any television commercial break, and you're bound to see a pill, cream or shot that will cure whatever ails you. But your grandparents and parents know differently.

Every family has home remedies that are handed down from generation to generation that avoid the medicine cabinet altogether and have us scouring the house for alternatives. From unconventional uses of garlic and aspirin to the weird like urine and breast milk, we asked listeners and scoured the net for some of these home remedies.

Before you read, please know: we haven't tested most of these and don't suggest you do. But... it's interesting what some people are up to out there to feel better!

Use Garlic to cure Athlete's Foot Fungus

If your feet are getting a bit gangly due to Athete's Foot, maybe try garlic. Some say the home remedy actually works, but be careful. Some report that using sliced garlic directly on the foot could result in burns. A garlic solution may be a safer alternative. Or, you know, save it for the next Italian night at the house.

Cure Foot Odor with Vodka

Let's say you just put garlic all over your feet, and you want to do something about it, perhaps try Vodka. Turns out the Russian specialty can eject the offensive scents from your feet. Rubbing alcohol should work too, but per ounce, depending what brand you get, the Vodka could be less.

Cure Hiccups with Sugar (or Orange Juice?)

A spoonful of sugar might help the medicine go down. It can also help your hiccups go away. A study from "back in the day" had nearly all hiccupping subjects stop after taking a spoon of the sweet stuff. Shawn's kid swears that orange juice helps him stop hiccupping. So, if you're down for taking a 5 year old's advice, have at it.

Use Olives or Lemons to Help with Motion Sickness

Starting to get a bit nauseous? Pop an olive. Turns out there's something in those olives called "tannins" that can dry your mouth of the excess saliva you get during a bout with motion sickness. No olives? Suck on a lemon. You'll look silly, your eyes will squint for minutes, but at least you'll be done with the queasiness.

Duct Tape Can Remove Warts

We've googled it, and legit sources seem to agree: duct tape can remove a wart as good as any cream. Just apply the duct tape to the wart for a while (talking days potentially), then remove, exfoliate, and reapply duct tape. Rinse and repeat til your wart is a distant memory.

Got A Headache? Put A Pencil In Your Mouth

It sounds foolish, but many subscribe to it. If a headache is bothering you, try putting a pencil in your mouth (not down your throat) and hold it gently with your teeth. Don't chew. Just holding it will release some tension and hopefully give you relief.

Another Headache Remedy? Watermelon Juice

No Ticonderoga number 2's around? Try drinking some watermelon juice to ease your headache. But DON'T eat watermelon if you're prone to migranes. That can actually trigger them.

Use Aspirin for Dandruff

Now that we aren't using aspirin for our headache (we have pencils and watermelon juice now), maybe you should crush it up to cure your dandruff. It has the same active ingredient as the dandruff shampoos you see. Just take a tablespoon of the aspirin dust, mix it with your shampoo and leave it in for a bit before you rinse. It's probably way more expensive, but think about how impressed your friends will be!

Garlic Juice Relieves Ear Infection Pain

We... don't know how we feel about this, but garlic (as you've seen) has some powerful uses. It could work. If your ear infection is actually a busted eardrum, don't use this.

Yogurt for Bad Breath

Turns out yogurt isn't just good for your digestive system. It can also do wonders to kick your stanky breath. The live bacteria in yogurt can beat down the bad breath bacteria. Jamie Lee Curtis must have amazing breath.

Use Breast Milk For... Everything

This list was given to us at the hospital by the nurse, and many swear to the power of breast milk. From acne to the flu, constipation to bee stings and more, a little breast milk can go a long way. We just don't know how your teen will react to running around trying to put breast milk on their pimply face.

LISTENER SUGGESTED: Rub Vicks On Your Feet To Stop Coughing

This texter swears this works, and they are not alone. A lot of people say it works for them too. But experts are dubious. Worst case scenario, your socks smell better.

LISTENER SUGGESTED: White Toothpaste For Burns

This is another oft-Googled remedy. Just take the plain Jane white toothpaste to a minor burn and you'll be feeling better in no-time. But Colgate, who has every reason to want to sell more toothpaste, doesn't suggest it.

LISTENER SUGGESTED: Use Cow Poop As Moisturizer To Cure Acne

There are scores of people that swear to the power of cow poo. We know it's pungent, but it could give you clearer skin! Clearer, stinkier skin.

LISTENER SUGGESTED: Pee On A Sea Urchin Sting

While our listener Bacos swears by it, turns out peeing on Sea Urchin stings, and Jellyfish stings for that matter, doesn't work according to experts. But... hey... if you gotta go and you got a sting... it's your pee.

LISTENER SUGGESTED: Bit Of Ivory Soap In A Baby's Butt For Constipation

Bacos hit us with this one as well, and swears by it! He's not alone! Others say it works, but we see more raised eyebrows than thumbs ups.

LISTENER SUGGESTED: Use Onion On Foot To Cure A Fever

We got this from more than a couple listeners, and while they swear by it, others say it's a placebo effect. Worse comes to worse, you have an onion on your foot and look silly.
